The Black Band Project
TweetI got this email today from Mr. X Agent No. 099 and it seems to be a blind tasting project. It looks like a series of videos will be sent to your email box for four weeks. At the end Mr. X will send you some cigars to try and figure out what they are. Seems like it will be pretty cool. I don’t know who is behind it but I would guess a manufacture. I would not put it past C.A.O. but who knows.
At the end of every email you get there is a mailing address 8360 Mills Drive, Miami, Florida 33183. In my quest to try and figure out who was behind this new site I did a Google search on the address and it came up as a company called Degage Dancing Supplies and that really threw me. I didn’t think it would be that easy but figured I would find a advertising firm.
If you did not get the email check out the Black Band Project site out and let the conspiracy theories begin!
Now for my warning, I do not know anything about this site or what the outcome will be. I don’t think it is a phishing scam, I think it is marketing. I signed up and feel pretty good about doing so but do it at your own risk.

Yeah not sure who is behind this marketing campaign. WHOIS search hits a brick wall behind a godaddy anonimity service. I signed up. We’ll see.
I think it is Camacho but not really sure. If you do a WHOIS search on Camacho, The Black Band Project and Social Cigar they all go through Godaddy. That is not saying much but just a theory.
My main question is how Degage Dancing Supplies fits in to all of this? Maybe a partner knowing people will search the address and find a link to that site therefore helping with the Google rating? Who knows. I don’t expect anything good or bad out of this. I have yet to get this weeks video link though…
The people doing this is Camacho. Check out http://www.Camacho.com and the “Contact Us” page. The address is the same as Black Band
Andy- I see 4650 NW 74th Avenue
Miami, Florida 33166 at http://camachocigars.com/contact/
The Black band has an address of 8360 Mills Drive, Miami, Florida 33183
Both in Miami Florida but not the same. I do agree though that I as well think it is them.
My initial thought when I saw the advertising was Drew Estate. They seem to want a more edgy and “hip” reputation. I know that they are the reason I started smoking cigars again.
Did a whois to verify their address and came up with Miami also. I think most cigar manufacturers are located in some capicity in Miami due to being a shipping entry point from Central Amercian tobacco producers.
I watched the last video and it is Camacho. Everyone that signed up should be getting some cigars in the mail in about three weeks. I don’t know if it the cigars they were talking about in the videos. I heard a rumor that it might be a new line of cigars.
These videos are fall down funny. I loved watching them. Some I watched twice and still could not stop laughing, and yes I’m as serious as a ninga. LOL you’ll get that joke later. I watch the last one today, and I’m kinda sad that I will no long get anymore. Anyway I can’t wait till I get the cigars. These people seem to really know there stuff about cigars. So people Sign up watch the videos unless your chicken and in that case I dont think they want you smoking there cigars anyway.
Ps Booth he is still waiting on his coffee LMAO
Looks like the promise for cigars was as much of a promotion as the videos. Don’t know of anyone who has received the promised package.
Not here. Two weeks ago I got an update from Camacho. I can’t find it in my email but is was about the Con. release and at the bottom it said:
Black Band Project Update
A special thanks to all that participated and helped make the Black Band Project a huge success. We apologize for any unforeseen delays in shipping of the Black Band Project cigars. The first round of shipments will begin leaving our warehouse next week and weekly from then on out. All qualified participants will receive their cigars in the next 21-30 days.
I hope they come through, if not they will not be making any fans around the net but I have faith in them……
Got my cigars the other day. It is Camacho. The cigars are fantastic too! 3 cigars, all different. One milder, on more medium, and one full bodied. I’m enjoying the full bodied one now!
@Mike I ran into a post on a forum giving up what they are. The full body smoke I will enjoy for sure! Wish I would not have read that post though…. Glad people are starting to see them, nothing yet here though.
I got my package a couple days ago!!! Haven’t tried them yet, but they smell and look terrific! Can’t wait to smoke these at the beach in a few days!!!
I did the project. Never got the Cigars. I would never order from this company, as they cannot be trusted to fulfill their commitments. It’s been months. All they succeeded in doing with their marketing campaign is ensure that I will never try their brand, as I do not trust their integrity. Even if their cigars are better, I wouldn’t smoke them now, because I need to trust the companys I do business with.
@Ross, I have not got mine either yet but it seems that many people have been getting them the past two weeks. I will hold my judgment but unless they had a hick-up I see everyone getting them at some point. I’m sure they will show up about the time I forget about them….
I appreciate clever and imaginative marketing, which this was. However, haveing said that , they have successfully pissed me off in NOT sending the cigars and at this point will not smoke them but will simple throw them away or maybe remove the bands and give them away as unknowns. The “delay” intentional or not is inexcuseable and must therefore reap it’s consequences.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who has looked like a rube going to the mailbox everyday with wide eyed optimisim, hoping just hoping that maybe, today is the day that I would recieve this magical (well priced, *cough* *cough*) cigar. However, I’m a cheap bastard and will smoke them, that is if they taste good.
Funny, I emailed them last night to see if they were still in the process of sending them out and today I had a box on the table from Camacho. I’m very pleased with them. If you would like to try to figure out what they are they are only marked A B C. You can then go to their site and find out what each one is. This is if you have not ran into what they are yet on a forum…..
No hard feelings from me
