Cigar Review: Arganese Maduro Robusto

In the next couple weeks I will be reviewing cigars out of a Arganese sampler that was sent to me for review. This is part one of six.

Information from Arganese:

A medium-bodied cigar made of the finest, hand picked tobaccos, carefully aged for 7 years. Dominican Republic and Cuban seed Dominican grown tobaccos are exquisitely blended to give you a perfect smoke every time. Hints of chocolate and sweetened coffee flavors highlight the experience.

Country: Dominican Republic
Size: 5×50
Shape: Robusto
Wrapper: Maduro, Brazilian Matafina
Filler: Dominican
Binder: Indonesian
Strength: Medium
Price: $99 (20 Figurado)

Pre-light: The Arganese maduro has a rugged look to it. I found that the foot had a spongy give to it and the rest of the cigar was solid. A couple mid sized veins is all that sticks out on the wrapper and this cigar looks like it should be a meaty smoke. Has a slight musty smell, firm draw and just a little spice.

The burn: The burn line was razor sharp all the way down. The draw was good throughout with some firmness. You get a good amount of smoke. The light grey ash could have lasted longer only giving me about an inch. Black lines gave the light ash some character with some black lines from the veins.

The taste: I picked up some Jalapeno spice in the beginning. Others include some leather, sweet maduro and maybe some coffee. I noticed that I got a thick film covering in my mouth. I could taste this cigar for a couple hours after smoking it.

Over all: I would call this cigar closer to full than medium. At under $5 each box price this is a good smoke. If your looking for good maduro at a affordable price you might want to give this one a try.

Cigar Review: Arganese Maduro Chairman Figurado

[poll id="26"]

Being that I had a 10 hour drive ahead of me I decided to take along this cigar to help keep my mind off the boring time. The only interesting thing was looking for the Grass Man while going through northern Ohio (Dang History Channel’s Monter Quest). Needless to say that I didn’t see anything. Surprised?

Not much site information on these.

Arganese cigars are manufactured by Arganese Dominicana, S.A. Tamboril Santiago, Dominican Republic. Arganese cigars are made of only the finest longfiller tobacco grown in the Villa Gonzalez, a mountainous area known for its fertile soil. Grown and harvested in 1998, the tobacco used in these cigars was carefully hand selected and aged for several years.

Pre-light: I love the shape of this cigar. The Arganese Maduro Chairman Figurado is a beautiful looking cigar. It looks’s like it could be shot out of a submarine. The wrapper itself has a couple medeum sized veins. I didn’t feel any soft spots, just a beautiful roll job on these. It has a rich tobacco smell, a tight pre-draw with a little spice.

The burn: Once fired up and past the foot the draw was perfect all the way down with the burn line almost as good. The burn rate, smoke amount and ash length were all top notch.  The ash being grey/black lasting an inch or more.

The taste: I picked up some bitter chocolate in the beginning. I mostly tasted mellow tobacco and semi sweetness for the most part with just a little of that tangy flavor that I can never figure out. There were a couple others that I could not get but I do know that they were all great.

Over all: Another good Arganese and at under $6 each box price I will be getting some more of these.
