Smoke Notes: Cusano 18 Double Connecticut
I went with the robusto size for the Cusano 18 at 5×50. This is a fine looking cigar with a silky smooth wrapper. Stogie Reviews reported that the 18 year old Dominican Oro tobacco only came to the Cusano 18 line after failed attempts to produce a Dominican wrapper leaf longer than four inches.

The wrapper has a couple small veins but is well made with no soft spots, very silky almost a suede feel and has a large cap that is off center a little. The cigar cut fine with no issue and when you put this in your mouth it feels like it is covered in suede. A very unique feel in the mouth. I do taste a heavy nicotine flavor in this cigar that Stogie Reviews talks about but it settled a little after five or ten minutes. I don’t know why but I also tasted grapefruit. I think it is a flavor mixed in with the nicotine. The draw was good that takes little effort with lots of smoke. The ash dropped off early at about 3/4 inch but the burn was perfect all the way down. The band came off fairly easy after heating up a little.
What I tasted: nicotine, grapefruit (?) and irish cream
I remember really enjoying the last one I had but this one turned out to be just ok. I don’t know if it was me picking things up that other reviews pointed out or if my buds are just off tonight. I have another in my humidor that I will have and see what happends.
- Stogie Reviews found this cigar to have a heavy chemical and nicotine flavor.
- Cigar Blog 101 likes this cigar and gives some history on the it.
- Cigar-Review and Keepers of The Flame and also has a review on the Cusano 18 Double Connecticut.

I smoked one last night and was really not impressed with it. It just didn’t have the flavor I remember these having the first time I smoked them.
