It did not take long for the SCHIP bill to come back to life. The new version keeps the
cigar tax the same as the old version. The sad thing here is I think it will pass this time, if not it will at some point. Like most cases, people (companies) do not do much to stop this kind of thing. I still urge you to email your senators, contact information can be found on a post I made a while back.

From what I’ve read this bill upset a few Republicans in the House, they tried to ram it through while several were out of Washington D.C. I also read that at least one switched back to voting against it even though he voted for the original. Eventually though I think we’ll be hit with a tax somehow. The Cigar Industry itself has been fumbling around badly in all this mess.

Yea I have been reading that since I made the post. It is unavoidable at this point in time, even if this does not go through. I just hope for an acceptable amount. All tobacco is looked down upon so much many non smokers look at “the smoker” as a second class citizen. I think George at The Stogie Guys was right on mark with his post “Hey Cigar Industry, Get Your Act Together!” at http://www.stogieguys.com/2007/10/10292007-stogie-commentary-hey-cigar-industry-get-your-act-together.html
