Anyone can now rate the cigar or product on that post. You can also thumb up/down comments. Search through the review index page and rate some cigars to try it out. I'm also still looking for anyone that would like to review cigars on the site. I want to try to get back doing them but want to give others a chance to share their thoughts. Soon we will have member blogs for all.

Review: Don Pablo Cigars

Well I’m in Chicago this week working and could not wait to get some Chicago pizza… If you ever get to the Chicago are look up J.J.’s Pizza Shack. This thing has about two pounds of cheese on it, definitely a heart stopper but so good!

After dinner I’m sitting here digging through my travel humidor trying to decide what sounds good. Decisions decisions! I think….well………..OK I think I will smoke….wait..no..AHHHH OK enough of that I will try a smoke I picked up while in Las Vegas. I found this cigar shop while driving back from the G2E gaming show in Vegas and had to stop. When I walked in I got a whiff of stogies and seen a lady behind the counter rolling cigars. The cigar shop is called Don Pablo Cigar Co. and it is located at 3049 Las Vegas South., #25 Las Vegas, Nevada 89109. The store owner welcomed me when I walked in and told me to light one up and hang out. I wish I had an hour or two to sit around and talk to the owner while having a smoke but that day I didn’t have the time.

This is a small shop that sells a small selection on brands, they mostly only sell their own line. What a cool place, cigars are rolled on site in the front so everyone can see. I don’t know if you can have them roll you a box while you wait, but I’m sure they will if you ask.

These have been sitting in my coolidor since June 06 and I have made myself wait but no longer…. So I hope this turns out good…..

Notes: Looks like they have changed bands. I believe this is the Vintage Line but I picked up a couple different kinds and got them mixed up.

Don Pablo Cigars Size: 50×6
Toro

Pre-light: The cigar has small veins and the cap is not round, it is oval. I found a couple small soft spots. It had a pretty basic cigar smell and a bland pre-light taste.

1/3: Nice firm draw with a good amount of smoke. The burn is straight as can be, very surprising since I found a couple soft spots. I can pick out a mild cedar flavor and this cigar is very smooth. The ash lasted almost an inch and dropped in the ashtray. The burn is getting off a little but nothing that needs corrected.

2/3: The burn went off a little more and I had to touch it up. Some spice has kicked in and I have picked up some pepper. The smoke filling the room has a nice mellow cigar smell to it and is not to thick.

Finish: It still has some burn issues but I have seen worse. The spice picks up toward the end.

Overall: I like this cigar a lot despite the couple of touch ups I had to do on the burn. It smokes a little fast for a toro size but is nice for a night you don’t want to spend two hours puffing away. It is a smooth cigar with a smoothness I have not seen much of with other cigars. I believe I paid around $4-$5 per cigar and have one more sitting in my desktop humidor though it is beat up from an airport issue. I will be picking some more up the next time I’m in Vegas, I hope I have the time to hang out a while. These are definitely worth a try for all cigar smokers, if you can’t get to Vegas you can contact them through the site.

I just got back from Vegas on Tuesday, and my buddy and I picked up a few cigars to enjoy one night at the casinos. I picked up the Don Pablo Maduro (I don’t remember if it had a special name, but it wasn’t in the Vintage line) for $5.50 I believe. My buddy bought a torpedo style cigar for around $7, and both of our cigars had a few soft spots but were generally firm. The maduro wasn’t a bad cigar given the price, but there was nothing special about it, and it produced thick bellowing smoke. The torpedo however was excellent. The draw was a little too firm for my liking, but the flavor was on par with many $20-30 dollar premium cigars. It was full bodied and like the reviewer said, had a pleasant cedar flavor midway through. If you are in vegas, do make sure to stop by this small shop for their excellent hand crafted cigars.

Ray, did they still have a roller up front? I didn’t pick up the maduro and don’t even remember seeing them. They might be new since I have been in.

matt, I have not seen any Don Pablo cigar bands with motorcycles on them. You might want to scan them in and email Don Pablo and see what they can tell you. You will find a link above.

They might have been made for a special event or something. Sorry I could not be anymore help.

Sorry for the slow response, Stinkie. They still have the rolling station, but I didn’t see anyone rolling when I went in. It may have been a little too dry that day to really do much rolling – I can’t remember if it rained before or after I went to the shop.
