Hotels caving in to anti smokers

I travel a lot with my job and I’m in hotels on a weekly basis. Last time I was in Vegas I was put into a Marriott brand hotel and found out upon arrival that it was a non smoking hotel. I don’t have to tell you how pissed I was. I was looking forward to getting checked in and relaxing with a cigar but didn’t really have a choice since I was their with others from the company for a gaming convention. I decided to research a little and find out if this was only this Marriott and is this a new trend that I have just not seen yet. Sorry to say the whole Marriott chain went to 100% non smoking and is not the only group to do it. Marriott is the parent company to many well known hotels like JW by Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residents and many more. It will cost violators between $200 to $300 (my guess is $300 for cigars) if they light up. More and more hotels are joining in on “protecting us” from ourselves. This is the freedom that god gave them but he gave us the freedom to stand up and speak out, let them know that we will stay next door. So you better do a little research before you go on that vacation. If possible I only stay at Holiday Inns.

You can see a list of hotels that are 100% smoke free HERE
If you know of any pass them on to add to the list.

Just wanted to comment that I am knew that the Marriott chain went smoke free - they are owned by a Latter Day Saint family, otherwise known as the Mormons.

Being ex-LDS, Joseph Smith’s Word of Wisdom tells its members that tobacco is not to be used by the faithful.

    FWIW…….

Have they always been owned by them? Isn’t that a little hypocritical? Why would they go all these years allowing smoking but now stop all of a sudden? Thanks for the info, I didn’t know they were owned by Mormons.

Either way, the whole anti smoking front is steaming forward with no end in sight.

John Willard Marriott started the hotel chain and was a Mormon. His son is now the CEO. I’ve always wondered why they allowed smoking, but they prolly did to accept the “secular” business. They went 100% non smoking because it is now PC to do so…

Like I said that is hypocritical. All I know is they have lost my business for good. Marriott was always my second choice if Holiday Inn was not near by. But I will stay at the Super 8 before I stay with them. I have been a member of their frequent stay for years and when I call to cancel my membership I will make sure they know why.
