The Gurkha G3 is a dark sexy looking cigar. G3 stands for triple ligero from what I read. They are made in the Torano factory in Honduras and only come in a toro size. They are a limited release in the states so they may be hard to find.
Pre-light: The cigar looks like it was made very well with some color variations. It has one decent size vain running about two inches toward the foot of it. I has a large cap so it should cut nicely and has a small slit by the foot that was my fault.. It has a nice tobacco smell to it. The cigar is solid with no soft spots. A draw picks out some spice.
- Length/Ring: 6×50
- Shape: Toro
- Wrapper: Nicaragua
- Filler: Nicaragua
From the start this cigar had some pepper but nothing crazy. It was smooth with lots of flavors a good draw and a solid ash. The burn started a little off but is solid now. I taste a little pepper and I think cedar. It has others that I can’t pick out so any comments with flavor notes would be appreciated for the next time. The ash lasted about an inch and a half only dropping after some solid taps on the ashtray so it would not end up on my lap.
My last review I talked about how the Cu-Avana is a good cigar to learn how to blow smoke out of your nose without inhaling it. Well this is a cigar you don’t want to practice with. It will light you up!
A new flavor has appeared that I can’t pick out (what a surprise), musty comes to mind but not the mustiness you get with Cuban cigars. The draw is still good with a lot of smoke. The smell is mild and pleasant floating throughout the room. Some spice kicking in a little more at about the half way mark. Toward the end of the G3 it seems to be a little “hollow”. I don’t know why I used that word but it just seems to fit.
Overall: The G3 is a flavorful cigar that I really enjoyed. It had a good draw throughout with a ton of smoke. The burn went off a little but nothing to complain about and it got a little strong the last two inches. Cigar Aficionado gave this cigar an 88 and I agree with that rating. I want (need) to know the flavors and I will be picking up some more if I can. If you can find them they are defiantly worth a try. I think it would be a good smoke after a steak dinner with a cold beer.

I reviewed this cigar in April and though it was a good cigar I couldn’t get to excited about it. I’m a huge Gurkha fan, but this one didn’t light a fire in my belly.
Good review of the G3!

I didn’t run into wrapper issues with mine. I found a lot of flavor but as you said in your review the flavor did not jump out, it was more mild flavors. I can’t remember what I paid but it was not $13. I would pick the Padron 1926 over this for that price.
