The Don Lino Africa is made by Miami Cigar Company located in Miami Florida (I think the name gives that away). I didn’t really know what to expect from these cigars. I picked them up because they were the perfect size I was looking for. As you can tell by my review these cigars caught me off guard.
Information from their site:
Nestor and Mariana Mirande, originally from Holguin, Cuba, founded Miami Cigar & Company in 1989. From first year sales of 40 thousand cigars, Miami Cigar grew to annual sales in the millions, shipping cigars nationwide from a 28 thousand cubic foot humidor in it Miami, Florida headquarters. This family-owned business works hard to bring superior cigars to the U.S. market.
Miami Cigars and Company distributes a variety of premium name brands, among them Dominican-made la Aurora and Leon Jimenes, Spanish-made Ducados, Wings, and their very own Tatiana line of flavored cigars, Don Lino and Habanitos.
Country: Dominican Republic
Length/Ring: 4 x 45
Shape: Petite Corona
Wrapper: Natural
Strength: Full
Price: $18 (4)
Pre-light: This is a dark beauty with small veins a nice cap and no soft spots. It looks very well made. As soon as it hit my lips I got some spice off the wrapper. Now this is a sexy cigar!
The burn: The burn absolutely sucked on the three I had. It wanted to go out on me after the first half the rest of the way through. The draw is very firm but that seemed to get a little better with humi time. The ash is a little flaky but held on for about an inch.
The taste: “Where am I” was the first thing I thought of when I finished my first one. I was not expecting such a kick in the ass. This is a full bodied smoke that has a smooth coffee bean and pepper flavor with a deep spice in the background. At the half way point the flavor seemed to get “hollow”.
Over all: I really like the strength and flavor of this smoke. If you don’t smoke to many full bodied cigars make sure to have a glass of water with you. With that aside it was to much trouble trying to keep it going and at around $18 for a tin of 4 I think they are over priced. Priced as they are you should be able to find a better option. If you do give them a try I think the Kuro is the size to be had. The down fall with them are you have to buy 4.

This is one of my husbands ultimate favs! My husband is disabled, so I tend to all his cigar & humidore care and storage. Due to the dry shipping environments, I kept the Africas in the himidore cabinet for 3 to 4 weeks minimum to help eliminate the “cut-out” problem (cigar won’t stay lit), after-which, the Africa Kuro tends to stay lit. I keep the humidity between 70 – 76, depending on the time of year (we live in Oregon). My husband raves about this cigar to all cigar fans he meets. I have been wanting to get him a large quantity for Christmas, but to my dismay, other than a single small tin, they are always out of stock or no longer available (depending on the site/company). To close, just let me say that I have never seen my husband enjoy any cigar the way he enjoys the Africa Kuro. Big “KUDO’S” to Don Lino!
