Cigar Aging Humidor

I was playing a free online casino tourney and my mind started to wonder. I wondered how many people have a humidor specifically used for aging their cigars. If you are a collector or starting to stock up on cigars it is a great  idea to have one. If you have a bunch of cigars sitting around why not have them sitting in optimized conditions so they rest gracefully.

If you are willing to do this you need something big enough to store a large amount of cigars. Luckily you do not need to spend a lot of money to make your own. I have posted detailed directions on how to make a coolidor. They are cheap to make, give you a lot of room and has a tight seal.

I would suggest using RH beads. They will keep the humidity at the level you want and last a long time between water charges in a cooler. You can pick them up from Heartfelt or cigarmony cheaply.

I keep my aging humidor between 70% and 72% humidity and move them over to my 68% humidor a couple days before I smoke them. Because of using such a high humidity you need to watch out for cigar beetles. Store your coolidor in a cool spot out of the sun. I keep mine in the basement. You want to open it every so often to cycle the air and check for beetles. You do not want to open it one day to find that half of your cigars have tiny holes all over them!

I’m going to look up some more casino sites but I hope I have helped you make up your mind as to if having a aging humidor is worth it to you.

If you do, come back and let us know and email us some pictures of it. We just might post it and give you credit love.
